The Mission Chamber Orchestra of San José (MCOSJ) is a volunteer orchestra known for its high quality performances and innovative programming that surprises and delights listeners. Founded in 1996, the orchestra consists of 35-50 musicians directed by Emily Ray and performs its regular four-concert season on the stage of San Jose’s Le Petit Trianon Theatre.
MCOSJ is proud to present world class artists as well as up and coming professional soloists in its performances. In addition to works from the classical repertoire, MCOSJ programs regularly feature contemporary compositions. Since its founding, the orchestra has given the world premiere of more than twenty works and the West Coast or South Bay premieres of many others.
Finally, in an effort to provide opportunities for talented young classical musicians to perform, the orchestra regularly invites top caliber players from local high schools to join the orchestra for one work on select concert programs.
